Chapter 1870 - 1867: Disappearance (Part 2)
"Need my help again?" Lin Tian grumbled unhappily, thinking this guy might be treating him like free labor.
"Come on, let’s go get the football. We can talk on the way." Xu Feibai saw the classmates arriving and beckoned Lin Tian to the storage room.
He took a couple of steps and realized Lin Tian hadn’t moved, so he turned back and said, "Don’t worry, I won’t make you help for nothing. Like before, I’ll pay you. What do you want?"
"The whereabouts of Ying Gou Bloodline and Shennong Ding," Lin Tian replied straightforwardly.
Though Xu Feibai anticipated Lin Tian wouldn’t ask for something simple, he was still quite taken aback upon hearing his demand for Houqing Bloodline and Shennong Ding.
"Lin Tian, what do you think I am, a magic genie? Wanting everything you name—forget about Ying Gou Bloodline. Shennong Ding too? Why don’t you ask me for Xuanyuan Sword and Fu Xi’s Zither?" Xu Feibai unusually swore, unable to contain his reaction.
"Well, if you have Xuanyuan Sword and Fu Xi’s Zither, I wouldn’t mind taking them too." Lin Tian retorted impolitely.
Xu Feibai pointed at Lin Tian, speechless for a long moment from the irritation, never encountering anyone so unabashedly rude.
"Xuanyuan Sword, Fu Xi’s Zither, Lin Tian, Teacher Xu, what game are you guys playing?" Xu Feibai’s voice grew louder, which Ning Wenbin coincidentally overheard, assuming they were discussing some game.
Xu Feibai cast him a glance and snapped, "Young people playing games, focus on your studies and keep progressing!" This left Ning Wenbin feeling unjustly scolded just for asking a question.
After they walked away, Lin Tian continued, "I know Shennong Ding is a bit tricky, but you should know about Ying Gou Bloodline. How can it be that your Xu Family, having been around for hundreds of years, knows nothing about zombie tribe secrets?"
Xu Feibai pondered for a moment and said, "I genuinely don’t know about Shennong Ding, but I have some clues about Ying Gou Bloodline. If you’re willing to help me, I’ll share those clues with you."
"Deal." Lin Tian wasn’t one for hemming and hawing; he trusted Xu Feibai’s words. If he claimed ignorance of Shennong Ding’s whereabouts, it was true, since Xu wouldn’t lie about such matters.
Lin Tian asked next, "How do you need me to assist you?"
As he asked, they arrived outside the volleyball court, where Xu Feibai stopped and stared at Xiao Manxuan. Lin Tian frowned because Xu Feibai was fixated on the person on the court.
"I want to see her Ice Soul," Xu Feibai stated before Lin Tian could ask further.
Lin Tian’s eyes narrowed instantly. "How did you know she’s carrying the Ice Soul?"
"During the last Blood Moon Night, the Zhang Family used the power of the Ice Soul. Did you think those with keen observation would miss that?" Xu Feibai responded, unfazed by Lin Tian’s dangerous look.
Lin Tian recalled that on the Blood Moon Night, Old Man Zhang used the Ice Soul to send both of them into Hell Netherfire. He hadn’t expected someone noticed this amid the disruption caused by Jiang Chen and the Ancient Barrier, especially Xu Feibai.
"I’ll be clear with you; giving you the Ice Soul is impossible." Lin Tian immediately rejected Xu Feibai’s request.
Just then Xiao Manxuan saw them and came to the edge of the wire fence, curious: "Aren’t you here to get the football? Why are you standing here?"
Xu Feibai didn’t answer, instead turning to Lin Tian: "You’ve misunderstood. I just want to check if it’s really the Ice Soul, not take it from you."
"Just that simple?" Lin Tian doubted Xu Feibai’s claim; transactions were rarely so straightforward. Nonetheless, if it was just a look, there would be no harm, so he signaled to Xiao Manxuan.
Xiao Manxuan didn’t know what the two were trying to do, but she trusted Lin Tian completely. Following his indication, she pulled out the Ice Soul and placed it in her palm.
At first glance, it looked like a clean-cut gemstone, yet Xu Feibai saw the white chill emanating from it.
"Ordinary people carrying the Ice Soul wouldn’t withstand its power. It seems that blow I took that night wasn’t fake; your constitution and strength are extraordinary," Xu Feibai stated gravely.
He was referring to the time Yasuo was rescued when Xiao Manxuan struck him. She blinked, unaware of what he meant, since she didn’t know she’d sent Xu Feibai flying.
"Finished looking? I’m putting it away—Lin Tian gave it to me, can’t afford to lose it." Xiao Manxuan treasured it dearly, caring less about its rarity than that it was a gift from Lin Tian.
Xu Feibai glanced at Lin Tian in astonishment, not expecting such a precious Ice Soul to be given away.
He nodded and then asked, "Can you tell me where this Ice Soul was obtained?"
"Where was it obtained?" Lin Tian paused, puzzled: "How does this relate to your task?"
Xu Feibai glanced around, ensuring no one else was near, then spoke quietly: "In ancient times, Jiang Chen was divided and suppressed in different locations. What holds him isn’t just Ancient Barriers but absolute treasures, one being the Ice Soul Coffin."
"Ice Soul is extremely rare, yet they used it to make a coffin—truly extravagant!" Lin Tian, despite being knowledgeable, was surprised by the tale of the Ice Soul Coffin.
Xu Feibai nodded in agreement, "Yes, even though treasures were more abundant in Ancient Times compared to today, Ice Soul remained rare. Thus, I suspect the necklace and the coffin share origins. By tracing the Ice Soul Necklace, we may find the coffin and a part of Jiang Chen’s body."
"I knew it wouldn’t be simple; you want me to help you find the Ice Soul Coffin." Lin Tian grasped Xu Feibai’s true motive.
"Yes, you need to take me to the necklace’s discovery site." Xu Feibai replied.
"Lin Tian, is it dangerous there? If so, we shouldn’t go," Xiao Manxuan asked, worried.
Dangerous? That was uncertain. The Blue Snake and Black Water King Snake guarded the Dragon-locking Well, chasing Lin Tian and Ning Luoxi away last time. Fortunately, the two snakes clashed when they met.
In ancient descriptions, such creatures were close to transforming into Jiao Long, though Lin Tian didn’t know if Jiao Long existed in this world.
Regardless, Lin Tian reassured the little girl with a relaxed smile: "No worries, it’s not dangerous. Besides, I need to gather Blue Snake Grass for Luoxi, so it’s basically a must-go."
Xu Feibai’s eyes flickered, seemingly doubting Lin Tian’s claim of "no danger."
"When do you plan to go?" Xiao Manxuan knew she couldn’t stop Lin Tian, so she bottled up her concern.
Before Lin Tian could reply, Xu Feibai spoke, "No time like the present, this weekend—that is, tomorrow. After the last Blood Moon Night’s anomaly, I have a bad feeling."
