Chapter 736 Second thoughts
Chapter 736 Second thoughts
The next few days, the group waited to see what the magic people would do and after one week, they decided to accept their terms... that was convenient, but suspicious. They definitely were up to something...
"They are giving up on a lot of resources, even though they won't gain anything physical in return," Terra said.
"They know that we will have to stick to our word and we can't risk start another battle anytime soon," Seada said. "From my perspective, they might have the excuse to attack us alongside the dragons if we don't keep our promises. They might even negotiate with them to work together to crush us."
"... I guess you have a point," Terra said.
Rain wondered intensely, racking his brain in an attempt to comprehend the motivations behind the actions of the magic and beast people. He couldn't fathom why they required such an extended period or why they were willing to go to such lengths just to solidify the truce. However, despite his efforts, no clear understanding or explanation appeared in his mind.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Rain said.
"Me too, but Seadir just sent the message saying that some more of the sea folk are willing to fight with us by learning sound magic, that should increase our strength a fair bit," Seara said.
"I suppose..." Rain said while holding his chin.
"Power Nap," Rain said. "You guys already learned that, right?" Rain asked. "You two should max out those techniques as well."
Rain had already gotten used to Power Nap... the name didn't make much sense when the skill was only useful when one could accumulate energy for several hours. In any case, the trick behind the technique was to just focus on that... single mindlessly. It was difficult to get used to it, but after some time, everyone got used to it.
All in all, the technique would make everyone rest more efficiently and have more energy daily to level up those skills.
"This should keep everyone busy for a while, but now I have to think of something for me," Rain thought. "I can't rely on the shield... I have the feeling that something worse than the dragons will come out of it if I can keep using it." Your adventure continues at My Virtual Library Empire
Rain's schedule was already packed in the first place, so it was hard to imagine what else he could do to improve it... he might as well sleep in the dungeons and kill all the monsters there. However, for the sake of efficiency, it was better to make the warriors work there. They will be able to level up and gain more points faster.
At this point in time, it seemed that Rain only had bad options... rely on the shield, and keep using dragons' blood to enhance his techniques, even though he could tell that they would affect him... give up on his morals. Even if he shows bad examples to his kids... it would be fine if he is able to protect them in one way or the other, right?
"The one acting proud is me?" Rain wondered. "What is the best option, keep sticking to my morals even if it costs my life to make my kids understand that some things can't be negotiated with? Or should I do anything necessary for the sake of our survival and make them understand that such things are a luxury that sometimes we can't afford?"
More than ever, Rain was in a difficult spot between two paths... he honestly didn't know what he should do. Still, he didn't want to believe that all of his hard work in the last two decades wasn't enough.
