When Rain received the initial reports the following day, he was taken aback and nearly fell from his chair. The reports described the presence of dragons flying near the border with the magic people's territory. This unexpected development surprised him, as dragons flying in that region were a cause for concern and required his immediate attention.
"What the hell... are all the dragons on the move now?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "Did they take a collective nap and wake up now to exercise or something?"
Either way, that didn't matter... It has been quite a while since dragons have been seen in human territory. Only two had been used when the magic people attacked, but the reports mentioned over ten of them now.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Maybe I jinxed us when I said yesterday that the warriors could fight the dragons..." Rain thought while squinting his eyes. "This isn't good, not good at all."
"We can't catch a break... but at least we are ready to fight," Terra said. "It will be bad if the dragons join forces with the magic people, though."
Rain understood that if the coalition of enemies continued to expand, the human kingdom would face imminent destruction. Facing an alliance of three powerful forces was an impossible challenge. However, if the dragons, who were immensely formidable creatures, decided to join forces with these enemies, it would spell an even greater catastrophe.
In that dire scenario, Rain was determined to prioritize the safety of his family and friends. If it came to that, he would gather his loved ones and flee to ensure their survival while leaving everything else behind.
Dragons were known for their colossal mana reserves, making their battles have a significant impact on the mana in the surrounding environment. Whether they killed other creatures or met their own demise, it was likely to accelerate the dungeon breaks. The consequences of their presence were very troubling, affecting the balance of power and posing a threat to the stability of the world.
"We will have to keep close watch on those creatures... we will have to kill them if they claim any lands on our territory," Rain said. "I will the rain spell to locate them every hour here and then send the closest army to deal with them."
"What if we end up killing them and enraging others?" Terra asked. "It is unlikely that they will run away."
"It can't be helped. The situation is beyond anything that we can do about it aside from protecting as many lives as possible," Rain said. "We can't work on damage mitigation that much when the enemies are dragons. The damage mitigation is to deal with them as soon as possible."
Terra nodded... it couldn't be helped. They still needed to improve Greedy Vow a bit more, but perhaps it would be better to let the warriors learn the ins and outs of the technique by themselves. It was the only thing that they could do to increase their survivability. With that in mind, Terra gathered the knowledge of the technique and began to spread it among their headquarters...
Seara kept looking after the kids while Terra worked on spreading some information, and Rain used his spell to find out when the dragons entered too much of their territory. While it was an important job to not let the kids feel restless and worried, Seara still had a lot of thinking to do as well... her father was also facing something similar, and they couldn't do anything to help each other.
In the end, it didn't take long for Sealyn to notice Seara's uneasiness and she began to cry... and it took a while for her to calm down. Rain had to help with that, even though he was supposed to have to focus on recovering his mana. Thanks to it, Seara felt even worse...
"How many times do I have to tell you... don't feel bad for this," Rain said. "You don't have that much experience dealing with these issues, after all."
