Chapter 1 Blue Star, Here I Come!
Chapter 1 Blue Star, Here I Come!
"Blue Star, I'm back."
Ten thousand years ago, Lu Heng transmigrated to the cultivation world, intending to join the righteous path, but was intercepted halfway by the Grand Elder of the Demonic Sect and forcibly taken as a disciple. With the addition of a talent system, all the attributes gained from daily check-ins were added to his lifespan until it reached its limit, granting him endless lifespan.
He wielded the Banner of Ten Thousand Souls and eventually became the patriarch of the demonic path.
However, his cultivation was stuck at the peak of the Mahayana stage, and the Heavenly Tribulation was delayed, leaving him with no way to ascend. The system said that he had an obsession with his homeland and could not leave without returning. Therefore, at the cost of his slumber, a spacetime wormhole was forcibly opened, sending him back to his homeland.
At this moment, Lu Heng stood in space, looking down at that blue star, his eyes reddening.
My soul is bound to this land and water for eternity, to my parents and younger sister at home.
"But...are they still there?"
The thought fills me with sorrow. Such a long time, and a mortal body—
"Ugh."
He suppressed his thoughts and looked around. There were no spaceships in sight, only scattered satellites and small space stations drifting by. "Ten thousand years...has Earth's technology stagnated to this point?"
Little did they know, space stations around the world had already captured his soaring figure in photographs.
As it swooped down, the ground became increasingly clear. Skyscrapers collapsed, ruins stretched endlessly, and an eerie atmosphere permeated the air. Upon closer inspection, strange creatures roamed freely.
"Holy crap, what's going on?!"
"Help! Someone please help me!"
"Human flesh, delicious human flesh!"
A girl's cries for help came from below. The fat, grotesque humanoid creature excitedly gave chase; though its steps were clumsy, its towering size allowed it to close the distance in just two strides. Its bucket-sized fist came crashing down.
Lu Heng landed instantly, stopping the attack with a single finger.
The force of the punch knocked the girl down.
"Looking for death? How dare you stop me from eating meat!" Fatty was furious, but he couldn't budge that finger an inch.
The girl turned around, speechless with astonishment.
Who is this person?
A single finger blocked the furious monster's fist?
"Destroy." Lu Heng released a slight burst of spiritual energy from his fingertips.
boom!
The violent energy erupted, reducing the fat-headed monster to ashes. The aftershocks parted the earth, leaving a deep ravine. Lu Heng's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly withdrew his power, nearly destroying the entire planet.
Oh no, I couldn't stop myself.
A helicopter roared to the scene. The girl stood up and thanked him, saying, "Thank you for saving me. I'll definitely ask my dad to repay you when I get back."
Lu Heng turned around and looked her over—pink hair, fair skin, delicate features, she was most likely a rich girl from some wealthy family.
"You wouldn't want me to... repay you with my body, would you?" The girl blushed, her gaze fixed on his ancient costume and his charming, devilish eyes.
What is this girl thinking?
Lu Heng took out a photograph from his storage ring—a family portrait from ten thousand years ago. "Have you seen anyone who looks similar?"
If the bloodline remains, then seek it out and nurture it with care.
"Isn't this Lu Xue's family?!" the girl exclaimed, her gaze sweeping back and forth across his face, her eyes wide. "Your name is Lu Heng?"
How do you know?
"Didn't you die a year ago?"
"Yes, Lu Xue always cries when she sees your photos."
"What year and month is it now!" Lu Heng grabbed her shoulder.
"November 12, 2030." The girl handed over the phone.
Lu Heng's heart surged with emotion, and he laughed loudly, "Commander, I'll remember this favor! When you wake up, I'll become your sworn brother!"
Her laughter was unrestrained, but Su Rourou was not afraid. She just stared at his profile and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear: "My name is Su Rourou. Welcome back."
"Let's go." Lu Heng lifted her into the air.
Seeing that it was rising higher and higher, Su Rourou was so frightened that she covered her skirt and screamed.
"Just give me directions."
"Over there... can you hug me? I'm wearing a dress."
whoosh-
All figures vanished.
The rescue team arrived just in time, and upon witnessing this scene, they were stunned.
The walkie-talkie blared: "Where's my daughter! Is she hurt?! Speak!"
With a full beard, Commander Chen said with difficulty, "He was taken away by a man in ancient costume..."
"What! Chase after them!"
"That person flew away; they were gone in the blink of an eye."
"Are you fucking trying to fool me?"
"If the supernatural has descended upon the world, what else is impossible!"
"...Which direction?"
"North, the urban area."
Lu Heng sped through the air, leaving only a fleeting ripple of air behind him.
Su Rourou clutched her skirt, her ears burning red. She secretly glanced up, and there was a face so close to hers—sword-like eyebrows, bright eyes, a sharply defined jawline, untouched by time, exuding only composure and a touch of wickedness.
"You'll have to pay to watch it again."
She lowered her head abruptly, her heart pounding like a drum.
A moment later, the two landed on the outskirts of a northern city. Lu Heng released his grip, his brow furrowing slightly. The city before him was completely different from the city lights he remembered—broken buildings, desolate streets and alleys, a mixture of decay and cold.
Several eerie creatures in the distance sensed the presence of human presence, and their scarlet eyes turned in unison.
Lu Heng raised his eyelids. The oppressive aura spread out like a tide, and the strange creature, like a wild dog being strangled, whimpered and fled without a trace.
"It's just ahead." Su Rourou pointed to a detached house. Vines climbed the wall, and warm light shone from the windows. "Lu Xue's house."
Lu Heng stood there, feeling uneasy for the first time in ten thousand years.
He pushed the door open and entered.
The familiar aroma of food wafted through the air. The living room wasn't large, and the furniture was old but clean. A family photo hung on the wall—the parents smiled, the boy was in the center, and the little girl with her ponytail nestled beside him.
It's him.
"Mom! Is the noodle ready yet? I'm starving!" A clear female voice came from the kitchen.
Lu Heng's heart skipped a beat.
A girl in her early twenties walked out carrying a bowl of hot noodles. She was dressed casually in her home clothes, and her hair was loosely tied in a bun. Her features resembled her mother's, yet she also bore his shadow.
She looked up.
The bowl fell from my hands.
pat.
The noodle soup splashed out, and steam rose.
Lu Xue's lips trembled, her pupils reflecting the silhouette she had dreamt of countless times. "...Brother?"
Lu Heng's eyes reddened.
Ten thousand years. He had traversed mountains of corpses and seas of blood, and trodden mountains of inner demons and blades, believing he had long since shed all weakness. But this one word, "Brother," shattered his ten-thousand-year-old ice.
"Xiaoxue," he chuckled hoarsely, "has grown up."
Lu Xue burst into tears, rushed forward and hugged him tightly, pounding her fists on his back. "Where have you been all year! I've looked at your photos every day! My eyes are almost blind from crying! You—"
Lu Heng patted her back lightly, his gaze passing over her and landing at the end of the corridor.
The mother stood there, apron still on, chopsticks in her hand. Her eyes were red-rimmed, her lips trembling as she remained silent.
"Mom," he said softly, "I'm back."
The chopsticks hit the ground with a crisp sound.
She didn't rush up to him; instead, she leaned against the wall, approaching step by step, her hands trembling as she touched his face. Warm, real.
"It's good that you're back." She choked back tears. "It's good that you're back..."
The three of them huddled together, their tears and laughter mingling together.
Su Rourou leaned against the doorway, her face already streaked with tears.
"Why is it so noisy?" The father peeked over the shoulder with a pot in hand, and his hand trembled when he saw the scene in the living room.
He had aged considerably, his hair was more than half white, his wrinkles were deeply etched, and his eyes were bloodshot. He stared blankly at Lu Heng, his lips moved, and finally, with red eyes, he let out a heavy "Mmm."
Though not eloquent, his trembling hands said it all.
After a long silence, Lu Xue wiped away her tears and glared at him fiercely: "Tell me the truth, where have you been all year? You didn't even call!"
"Not a year."
"What?"
Lu Heng's gaze swept over his family, landing on the family photo. "It's ten thousand years."
The living room was quiet.
Su Rourou was stunned.
Lu Xue blinked.
The father couldn't hold the pot properly.
The mother was also stunned.
"What...did you say?"
Lu Heng raised his right hand, a ghostly light appearing in his palm. Deep as an abyss, vast as a galaxy, its oppressive aura sending shivers down one's spine. The room temperature plummeted, and the photo frame swayed slightly.
The pot in the father's hands crashed to the ground.
Su Rourou covered her mouth, her pupils dilating in shock.
Lu Xue's voice changed: "Holy crap—bro, you've become an immortal?!"
Lu Heng collected the spirit, a slight smile playing on his lips, his eyes filled with an age-old melancholy. "Not an immortal. A demon."
The night wind swept across the ruins outside the window, and the distant growls of the eerie creature echoed through the air.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, then regained his composure, ruffled Lu Xue's hair, and said in a casual yet authoritative tone, "It's been so long since I've tasted Mom's cooking, I've almost forgotten what it tastes like. Let me finish this bowl of noodles first, and then I'll tell you slowly..."
