Chapter 227: Clipping The Wings
Chapter 227: Clipping The Wings
I have to keep pushing forward... Even if it hurts as much as it does. Grip!!!
I grab onto his arm and begin to pull it out, all while refusing to let go of it. It is obvious he isn’t bothered by it in the slightest.
"I’m glad you aren’t just giving up but this isn’t what I want," Greed says while staring right into my eyes.
WHAM!!!!
His left fist immediately slams across my face as I try to keep holding onto his arm. All of the pain is starting to overwhelm me more and more with each second that passes.
Over and over again he punches as I do my best to grip his arm... This being the only way to try to attack.
After a few more punches across my face I finally manage to swing my free hand towards his face but he catches it.
"Seriously! This isn’t it!" Greed shouts.
SNAP!!!!
I watch as the bone splits out from my wrist; blood spills all over the floor as my vision starts to blur. Everything is starting to become way too much.
Rokuro!!!!
I’m really struggling here Rika. I know that death would be the outcome here but I don’t think I want to die here. I haven’t completed my journey yet.
POW!!!!
After letting go of my broken wrist he punches me across the face once again but now I let go of his wrist.
It doesn’t take long for me to notice that I’m falling towards the ground now.
Thud.
After hitting the ground I notice that all my blood is beginning to pile up all around me in a small pool. Everything is starting to fade to black.
Greed crouches down in front of me with a disappointed look on his face.
"The dragon ended up getting his wings clipped after all. I don’t know what I expected from you," Greed says while looking at me.
Why can’t I get up? I don’t want to die here so can’t I get a hand once again?
Nothing but silence surrounds me as I start to lose consciousness... Rika’s voice fades away as I realize what is happening.
A light appears in the distance and I notice that a girl is standing within the light.
"Rokuro it is time," Her voice echoes loud and clear.
I wipe my eyes as it becomes clear that Minami is standing in front of me. I’m no longer laying on the ground in front of greed.
"I’m really dead?" I ask while looking up towards the sky.
A bright blue sky lingers above with beautiful white clouds floating throughout.
I really thought I’d get strong enough to face the monarchs properly before passing away like this. But, not everything can go the way you want it to.
Hopefully it was enough to keep the girls safe at the very least. I don’t want anything to happen to them... Even after I’m gone.
"Rokuro! Come on!" Minami shouts as she extends her hand out.
I look down at my hands to see that there is no damage, no blood, no scars. Everything is gone like it never happened to me in the first place.
Without thinking much more about it I begin to walk towards Minami. Everything starts to drift away as I finally take her hand.
The world around me shifts completely and starts to look a lot like an open field with a small house in the distance. Someone is standing at the door too, but I can’t tell who it is.
"Where are we?" I ask while walking with her.
"Home. Welcome home Rokuro," Minami responds with a smile on her face.
Tears begin to stream down my face as I start to realize that this might be exactly what I need.
My family that I lost so long ago is here... What more could I ask for?
Everything disappears as Rokuro reaches the small house with his sister Minami, the focus shifts elsewhere.
(Within The Old Church. Ghost’s POV)
"It feels odd that we haven’t heard a single thing from anyone lately," Lilly says with worry in her voice.
"I’m sure everything is okay. Rokuro is just busy with the others," I assure her while looking up at the windows.
"How are you so positive about this?" Lilly asks with confusion in her voice.
"Rokuro is strong. He’s always done his best to protect everyone so I’m sure he is fine and so are the others," I respond without thinking.
Did I even answer that properly? The truth is... I’m not always positive about this at all but someone has to be. If not, who will keep us all going if something ever does happen?
That’s not a question I ever want to answer if I’m being honest. My memories have slowly been coming back more lately but I can’t fix the past.
So looking forward in a positive manner is all I can really do now.
A strange pressure sends a strong shockwave throughout the entire realm as if someone really powerful just left.
Was that related to Rokuro?
"What do you think that was Ghost?" Lilly asks with concern in her voice.
"Probably not anything we need to worry about right now," I answer.
I take a seat and look towards the door.
The sound of multiple people running is all I can hear before the door bursts open. Aria, Velia, and Eliza are all together. Rokuro is nowhere in sight.
Lilly immediately rushes over to them to make sure they are okay as I continue to scan for any sign of him.
There’s nobody else running towards this place though...
I stand up from my seat and walk back behind the podium, towards one of the rooms.
I’m sure he is just taking his time like usual... He’s always been good at doing that, especially with the tower. So it wouldn’t be unusual if that was the case.
Yeah. He’ll be here any moment now.
