Kat didn't think she'd ever meet someone that would make her more uncomfortable then Meg. No that was wrong, she knew it would happen eventually. She just didn't think it would happen IN THE SAME DAMNED MISSION! Kamiko had gone passed the point of exhaustion to hill the dickhead. She wasn't in recharge mode she was completely unconscious.
Kat was furious, and planning multiple ways to ensure that Ronldo didn't survive whatever was about to happen next. Kat wasn't entirely sure how serious she was about those plans... but Lily was working alongside her, happily creating her own or ensuring that Kat's plans were a bit more robust. Time would tell really. Oh, and she was keeping the knife. Ronldo didn't deserve it back.
Hunter had a slight frown on her face but it wasn't major. Kat didn't really know what that meant, perhaps she was disguising her dislike for the mission or perhaps to her it was 'disappointing but understandable' having spent so long around Meg. Strdl looked uneasy but also sort of smug. As if she knew something like this was bound to happen from the start. Meg seemed entirely unconcerned, something that just added to Kat's frustration.
Pebbles actually looked the most uncomfortable, besides Kat and Lily of course. He was leaning slightly away from his 'friend' and wasn't looking pleased at all. He was fidgeting in place somewhat and if Kat kept her ears open she could hear stone moving about underneath the table in a cyclical motion. Perhaps as a way to calm himself down.
"So, what happened?" asked Meg while the others were still recovering.
Kat pulled Kamiko closer into the hug she'd wrapped the younger girl in. Not willing to let Kamiko leave her reach at this point in time. "Well, we might not have too much time so I'll stick to the basics first, and expand later if we can. I assumed, correctly it seems, that someone on your team would sneak into the vault. So I'd set up in the corner and was watching the only entrance.
"I didn't spot anything at all until Trvis showed up, for you demons he's our secondary contact with the nobles we work with. He's more of the muscle but not stupid by any means... and he knows the key to the safe. He opened the door and walked inside, heading straight for the gem.
"He moved through disabling most of the protections, but not all of them. Seems our other major contact, Sarhe put a few extra bits of protection that she didn't talk about. She's both the main contact and our enchanter for most things. Anyway, Trvis smashed through and grabbed the crystal.
Ass Meg was speaking Lily leapt forward onto the table and everyone reacted to her sudden change in position. Before they could do much though, a tear in space opened up at the same time as Lily coated the gash in paper shields with a solid layer of shadows in between them.
Sadly, while Lily was quick to react she didn't have the power necessary to do more than slow down the thing on the other side. Claws ripped through the paper and shadow with ease, disrupting the spell and revealing Trvis.
Since Ronldo had described him a few things had changed. His face had started to stretch outwards into a muzzle. It hadn't completed the transformation yet but it was moving that way. The invisible wings were a bit more solid but clearly ethereal. In contrast, what once might have been nice leather armour had been shredded as Trvis' muscles expanded in size. "I'LL GET YOU!" growled Trvis through elongating teeth as he jumped towards the Lily, the nearest person to him.
Lily threw up several paper shields as she jumped backwards. At the same time Hunter shot him right in the head. The bullet went through with minimal resistance, brain and blood coating the table as the body collapsed. Kat let herself relax, breathing deeply... but only for about half a second.
The corpse on the ground seemed to shudder and glitch like she was looking at a faulty computer program. It twitched in place without the limbs moving, jittering slightly to the left in right and then Trvis reformed. Two of him. One from the remnants of his head, and the second from the main body that remained. "I'LL GET YOU!" yelled them both at the same time.
One slashed its way through Lily's shields, while the other went for Hunter. The lamia jumped backwards and yelled, "Meg how do we deal with these things!" Not noticing her slipup with the 'name'.
At the same time Kat and Lily were backpedalling away from the second on. "Take Kamiko for me, I can't fight and hold her," Lily nodded transforming and grabbing Kamiko from Kat's hands. At the same time Ronldo was backing up and Pebbles summoned up a large hand of stone, squishing both of the Trvis on the table.
For a moment things were silent but Meg quickly said, "Don't kill them! They just come back! I'm having trouble working out what to do!"
At the same time four Trvis... clones? Copy? Temporal anomalies? Whatever they were, four of them rose up above the stone hand and leapt. One going at each person with Pebbles and Ronldo sharing a Trvis, and the same for Kat and Lily.
Pebbles reacted first, dropping the table and ground below into a big hole and closing the lid over the top. This only managed to catch three of them. The one going for Kat and Lily was close enough to jump over. Moving forward, Kat winced as she let stab into her arms as she pulled it into a bear hug as softly as she could manage while that Trvis thrashed around.
