Chapter 1021: Silver crown
Maybe that had always been one of the main reasons behind Khan's broader perspective. He could suffer endlessly without batting an eye. His nightmares had made him a pain expert, allowing him to empathize with anything and anyone.
Humankind would not like that development, and things would get more specific and dangerous with the nobles and the Nognes Excellencies.
Nevertheless, Khan had chosen his path, allegiances, and power. He could only hope the world wouldn't force him to destroy it.
The conversation probably had the highest relevance among the banquet's topics. The banter was fun, and the discussions about who was stronger also revealed clues, but Khan's eventual return was the key reason behind his presence on the big planet.
Khan's decision to leave humankind had yet to be resolved, and both the Empire and the Global Army were awaiting his declarations. Much had to be discussed and settled, and all of it depended on Khan's stance. His current mindset foreboded the worst, but the Royal Guards didn't care.
Even Lord Envoy let the matter go after receiving that satisfactory reply. After all, the Royal Guards had no interest in politics. They solely existed to protect the Emperor, which was probably why they didn't wear crowns or capes.
Lord Rsi couldn't share that detachment. He had overseen the Empire's relationship with humankind for a while already and had also gotten close to Khan in recent years. The tournament had evolved their relationship, but the current issue left him conflicted.
The conflict wasn't about a potential decision between Khan and humankind. The Emperor had spoken, so Lord Rsi would support Khan with everything he had. The Lord's worries were about Khan himself and what he might have to face.
"[My Lord]," Lord Rsi eventually called, knowing politics couldn't wait. "[I can have my soldiers prepare the scene for your return. We don't have many troops on the ground, but we can still seize most of Baoway's key buildings]."
'I wonder if she'll come with me,' Khan mentally sighed before turning his attention elsewhere. Lord Enforcer had stood up, and Lord Envoy imitated him before teleporting him somewhere.
The two remaining Royal Guards, Lord Rsi, and Khan didn't get the chance to comment on the situation since Lord Envoy and Lord Enforcer only required a few seconds to return.
Lord Envoy returned to his seat while Lord Enforcer approached Khan, carrying a set of small clothes in his huge palms. Khan recognized the iconic red cape and the darker Thilku uniform, but the silver crown on top of them remained the most eye-catching detail.
Khan didn't hesitate. He only wore trousers, so he stood up and promptly removed them before seizing the Thilku uniform. Those darker, starless clothes were strangely fitting, seemingly perfectly adjusted to Khan's size, and he couldn't help but connect the matter to Lord Enforcer's power.
The same size adjustments were applied to the cape and crown. They were shorter and smaller, making them suitable for Khan's physique. He took and donned the red garment before adjusting it to his shoulders, but someone intervened when he reached for the crown.
"[I should do it]," Lord Mighty announced, standing up. He had been the one to confirm Khan's worth, so he felt it was his role to crown him.
Lord Enforcer didn't oppose nor comment on the decision. He stepped aside, letting Lord Mighty grab the small crown. His hands were so big he had to use both to safely hold the item before placing it on Khan's head.
Khan played along, both realizing and accepting the moment's monumental relevance. He could only respect Lord Mighty's temporary seriousness and the crown's meaning. Not long ago, Khan was still busy studying the Thilku language. Meanwhile, he now stood close to the Empire's peak.
The silver crown was heavier and colder than his previous one. Yet, it fitted Khan better, acting as a ring around his forehead and keeping his long hair partially still.
Moreover, Khan was okay with that cold sensation. He had always been fine with the cold, now more than ever.
