Vol 4 Chapter 73: Dissipated Obsession

Soon after, Lin Jing and the others found a place within the Feng residence and used two Dragon Veins to set up the array patterns.

These two Dragon Veins were of very ordinary quality—enough to perhaps allow a Foundation Establishment clan to produce a single Nascent Soul cultivator at best, far inferior to the one the Stone Chicken Empress had.

However, compared to reviving the projection of the First Ancient Emperor, reviving a Peak Void Mystical Stage artifact refiner didn’t require such high-grade Dragon Veins.

“So tired... turtle's exhausted...”

The Mechanical Turtle, acting as the formation core, laid on the ground as if the earth was its bed and the sky its blanket, mentally drained—having performed the Divine Scripture twice in a row was truly exhausting.

But for the sake of Lin Jing’s promise—that once it completed its task, it could travel freely—no matter how tired it was, it endured.

Throughout the process of reviving the Feng Family Ancestor, the First Ancient Emperor watched with childlike curiosity, eager to see how he himself had once been resurrected.

Before long, under the watchful eyes of Lin Jing and the others, the projection of a blue-robed elder appeared above the dried-up Dragon Vein.

“Where... am I…”

Feng Ling, the Feng Family Ancestor, opened his eyes in shock, raising his arm, astonished as to why he, long deceased, had reappeared in the world.

“Ancestor!!”

At that moment, Ancestor Feng Yu’s eyes were red as he looked at Feng Ling and said, “It’s me. I’m Yu’er.”

“Who are you?” Feng Ling looked at him.

“Do I know you?”

“You two... aren’t even from the same era, are you?” Feng Ning couldn’t help but interject.

“Oh.” Ancestor Feng Yu paused, then recalled—Feng Ling had passed away before even his grandfather was born. He’d tried the emotional approach way too early.

He quickly said, “This junior is a cultivator of the later generations of the Feng Family. I was the one who asked this great one to summon the projection of our ancestor.”

Feng Ling’s gaze swept over Lin Jing, Feng Ning, the First Ancient Emperor, Feng Yu, and Tang Ling one by one—and from Lin Jing and the Mechanical Turtle, he could indeed feel a powerful suppressive force.

“I ask you,” now finally seeing Feng Ling, the Ghost Bride took a deep breath and said, “Do you know the name Jiang Feng?”

As soon as she spoke, Feng Ling’s expression changed. “Who are you, and where did you hear that name?”

“So you do know it.” At those words, Tang Ling’s eyes sparkled. After

“Mother!” Feng Ling cried out. Though it was his first time seeing the Ghost Bride, he was certain—this was the other mother that Jiang’s mother had often spoken of.

And Ancestor Feng Yu was now filled with guilt for how he had treated her.

He’d thought the Ghost Bride harbored ill intent. Who would’ve guessed she was actually the Feng Family’s progenitor? He regretted it deeply.

“Sigh.” The First Ancient Emperor shook his head.

Lin Jing also stood silently watching, not stopping it.

The Ghost Bride had been born from obsession. Now that it had faded, she chose to become a Sword Spirit to protect the Feng Family’s descendant. That, too, was a new kind of longing.

“Senior...” Even Cold Moon Sword Immortal, as firm-hearted as she was, couldn’t help the stir in her heart.

Lin Jing had always hated these sorrowful scenes.

He sighed.

“Seeing how much you all miss Senior Tang Ling, and now that she’s ‘truly dead,’ she should meet the Divine Scripture’s criteria. So how about this—let’s smuggle two more Dragon Veins and summon her projection to chat a bit?” He hadn’t listened to a single word of Tang Ling’s advice.
